House Votes to Limit Drone Use

The Texas House passed a bill last night that could limit the use of aerial drones by both law enforcement and private citizens.

Rep. Lance Gooden, R-Terrell, points out that police need a warrant to enter private property, and says his bill would provide the same requirement for law enforcement using drones.

Alleged Fort Hood Shooter Returns to Court Today, Seeks Trial Delay

Army Maj. Nidal Hasan will be back in court this morning. Hasan is charged in the deadly 2009 of Fort Hood shooting rampage.

Military judge Col. Tara Osborn is expected to hear pretrial motions for a continuance until this fall. Just three weeks before standing in trial, Hasan is asking that his trial to be delayed until September 1. Right now, the selected jury is set to start May 29 and the testimony is scheduled to begin July 1.

Sales Tax Holiday to Give You a Break on Efficient Appliances

If you’re thinking of buying an appliance anytime soon, you might want to circle Memorial Day weekend on your calendar. The state’s annual Energy Star sales tax holiday runs May 25- 27.

Dub Taylor with the State Energy Conservation Office says they want to encourage people with the idea that after you save on sales tax, you’ll also save on your electric bill.

Judge: Cheerleaders Can Keep Bible Verses On Banners

Cheerleaders at an East Texas high school who were told to stop displaying Bible verses on banners at school athletic events can resume such displays, after a state district judge ruled in their favor Wednesday.

The national headline-grabbing lawsuit arose last fall when Kountze Independent School District administrators ordered its high school cheerleaders to stop displaying religious messages during athletic events after a group advocating for the separation of church and state threatened to sue.

TX Doctor to File Lawsuit, Hopes to Overturn Affordable Care Act

A Texas doctor is filing a lawsuit in a Houston federal court this afternoon to challenge the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as "Obamacare."

Dr. Steven Hotze and attorney Andrew Schlafly with the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons hosted a press conference at the Capitol on May 7, 2013 to announce the lawsuit.
