Mack Brown Suspends WR's, Says Horns Have 'Another Run' Left in Them

As summer heats up, the Texas Longhorns are taking to the practice fields.

Today, UT Football Coach Mack Brown said, this year, the team is looking to rebound from last year’s lackluster season, that the team will move forward with Quarterback David Ash firmly at the helm and that wide receivers Cayleb Jones and Kendall Sanders will be suspended for the Horns' first game against New Mexico State.

UT Softball Faces Arizona State in Women's College World Series

For the first time since 2006, the University of Texas at Austin softball team is in Oklahoma City for the Women’s College World Series. It’s their fifth trip in team history, but the soft national championship has thus far eluded the Longhorns.

They’ll open against Arizona State tonight in a game that will air on ESPN2.

Fans of women's sports often maintain that female athletics get short shrift from the media, so it had to be something of a surprise gift when ESPN presented the start of the WNBA's draft live.

This happened as it was announced that after two abject failures in the past decade, yet another professional soccer league for women will dare venture forth in the United States.

Longhorn Kenny Vaccaro Drafted by New Orleans Saints

University of Texas at Austin senior and defensive back Kenny Vaccaro will start donning gold and black instead of burnt orange.

Vaccaro was drafted 15th overall in the NFL draft last night by the New Orleans Saints. He will be the first Longhorn to play for the home of jazz since the Saints took Heisman trophy winner Ricky Williams in 1999. 

Vaccaro said (and tweeted) that he is excited to be a Saint.

Explosions Rock Boston Marathon Finish Line

Two explosions rocked the finish line of the Boston Marathon this afternoon, leaving at least three dead and dozens injured, the Boston Police Department reports.

The explosions happened in quick succession four hours after the beginning of the race, the world's oldest and one of the most prestigious road races in the world. At that point, the majority of 27,000 runners had crossed the finish line. Thousands, however, were still out on the course.
