Video: Alamo Drafthouse Names 'Don't Talk & Text' PSA Winners
If you've ever been to an Alamo Drafthouse theater, then you're familiar with the pre-movie videos telling patrons to shut-up and turn off their phone.
The short videos have often featured movie stars or famous directors or even former Texas Governors.
But this year the Austin-based theater chain asked its fans to produce some new "Don't Talk" PSA's.
It announced the winners this morning:
"We ended up with 45 different entries to the Don't Talk / Don't Text Filmmaking Frenzy competition, with filmmakers from all over the country chiming in to give their best take on a PSA warning obnoxious people that it's super rude to talk or text during a movie. There were a lot of different fantastic ideas presented, and a lot of entertaining ways to tell people to shut up and watch the movie."
The super-duper, grand prize, First Place winner is an entry is called "Unforgivable" from the group Possum Box:
The Alamo also named several regional winners. You can see all of them on the Alamo website, but here's my favorite:
And for a little nostalgia. here's the very first "Don't Talk" PSA every done by the Alamo Drafthouse (including some potentially NSFW language and carnage):
