Photos: Austin’s African-American Community Heritage Festival

The 14th annual African-American Community Heritage Festival was held in East Austin this weekend, at historic  Huston-Tillotson University.

The event featured food, vendors, a performance from R&B singer Dwele and much more.

“We gather today to celebrate African-American heritage and the impact that had on our city,” said Austin Mayor Pro Tem Sheryl Cole, who co-sponsored the event with state Rep. Dawnna Dukes.

“The city and the state come together to put this event on, and have various community leaders speak about the importance of preserving African-American heritage in historic East Austin and throughout the city," Cole said.
