Drought Likely to Continue in Central Texas

After tonight and tomorrow’s wintry weather passes through, we’re not expected to see a lot of moisture.

The National Weather Service updated its 3-month drought outlook this morning. It shows the drought will likely continue in Central Texas and the Hill Country… at least through March.

“We’re in a drought pattern that developed in the fall and still continues right now," said Bob Rose, Chief Meteorologist with the Lower Colorado River Authority. "And according to their latest outlook, I don’t think we’re going to see a whole lot of change here over the next three months.”

Late last summer, meteorologists had predicted that an El Niño pattern would develop, bringing Central Texas more moisture. But as 2013 neared, it became more clear that a La Niña pattern was occurring, leaving the area drier.
